Gynocare is dedicated to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality across Sub‑Saharan Africa. We do this by empowering frontline midwives through education, training, and support, and ensuring that women and newborns have access to life‑saving medications and essential care. Our broader aim is to strengthen local healthcare systems and uphold the dignity and safety of every birth.
-
Yes. Gynocare is registered as a charity in the UK (England & Wales / Scotland / UK as appropriate). We comply with all relevant UK charity law, financial reporting, and governance requirements. (We also maintain partnerships / local registration in the countries we serve, as needed.)
-
Gynocare was founded by Sade Oluwalemi, who saw that, despite progress, many women and babies in Sub‑Saharan Africa continue to suffer and die from preventable complications of pregnancy and childbirth. She launched Gynocare to make a sustainable difference by training midwives and strengthening local systems, rather than just supplying short‐term aid.
-
Donations are used to support several key areas:
Training and continuous education for midwives and frontline birth attendants.
Procuring and distributing essential medicines, equipment, and supplies for maternal and neonatal care.
Supporting supervision, mentorship, and support systems for midwives, to ensure quality of care.
Strengthening health system components — e.g. improving supply chains, improving facilities where feasible, supporting data collection and monitoring.
Administration, monitoring & evaluation, and ensuring accountability / impact reporting.
-
You can support Gynocare by:
Making a one‑off or recurring financial donation through our UK donation portal / bank account.
Sponsoring specific projects (for example, a training workshop, or provision of a supply kit).
Donating medical supplies or equipment (if we have current needs and can safely ship).
Volunteering your time or expertise (e.g. as a trainer, mentor, fundraiser).
Raising awareness, advocating for maternal care, or partnering with local organisations.
-
Our focus is on front‐line midwives — those at birth, in rural and suburban settings — not only on hospitals.
Emphasis on education + mentorship so improvements are sustainable.
Ensuring access to life‑saving medicines and essential care, not just training or advocacy.
Working in partnership with local health systems to strengthen them, rather than substituting them.
Strong commitment to dignity, safety, and respectful care for mothers and newborns.
-
We help:
Pregnant women, mothers, and newborns in Sub‑Saharan African communities, particularly underserved suburban and rural areas.
Front‑line midwives and birth attendants, by giving them the training, tools, and support they need to safely manage childbirth and neonatal complications.
Local health systems and clinics by strengthening infrastructure for maternal and neonatal care.
We help by training, providing essential supplies, supporting ongoing supervision, monitoring outcomes, and advocating for respectful and safe birth practices.
-
